“People around town ask me what my Dad would say about me running as a Republican. My Dad was always proud of me and supported me in everything I did. I think this article written my senior year at OU says it all.”

Tahlequah has always been in my heart and I've always considered it home.

Regardless of where life has taken me, Tahlequah has always been my home and I’ve always kept it in my heart.

The Sooner Schooner Scholastic Award, established by Mr. Charley Bartlett and Dr. M.S. Bartlett of Sapulpa is awarded annually to the football player who has completed his eligibility and has maintained the highest grade-point average through the years of his participation. The 1982 winner is a three-year letterman as an offensive lineman who doesn1 t know the meaning of “quit.” He was a tri-captain his senior year and served as an excellent leader even when a knee injury in the Southern California game sidelined him for six games. For many such an injury would have meant the season was over but this athlete amazed coaches and trainers alike with his efforts to rehabilitate his knee enabling him to return to action in the Missouri game. He exemplifies the words intensity and outstanding effort both on the field and in the classroom as a pre-med major. Ladies and gentlemen . . . Mr. ED CULVER
